We also understand the inherent privacy risks involved in using the Internet. This statement describes privacy practices that apply to the ATIC Computers web site. Please note that these site may contain links to third-party Web sites over which ATIC Computers maintains no control and therefore takes no responsibility regarding privacy considerations or content. Generally, you may browse ATIC Computers web site anonymously. However, on some occasions we may ask you to provide identifying information. Wherever possible, we try to provide you with opportunities to review and change any personal information that is collected. ATIC Computers may update this privacy statement from time to time. You are encouraged to review this statement regularly for any changes.
Why we collect information online
ATIC Computers collects information from our users who wish to process orders. Any order that needs to be shipped out requires the following information to be delivered : Name, Phone Number, and Address w/ Postal Code. For security purposes, we also record your IP address, host name, and the time that your account is created. We also collect email addresses for the purpose of sending your quotation requests and order confirmations to you.
Summary of information that ATIC Computers gathers online
ATIC Computers collects three types of information from visitors to our Web site: (1) information gathered by analyzing page views and user navigation patterns, (2) information that you provide directly when you create a user account, and (3) the IP address, host name, and time that your account is created.
How ATIC Computers uses the information gathered online
ATIC Computers uses tracking information to identify the areas of our Web site that are most heavily utilized. The information that you provide while visiting ATIC Computers' Web site will be used to improve the site itself.
ATIC Computers may use information that you voluntarily provide to send you electronic newsletters. If you do not wish to receive these newsletters simply email your request to the ATIC Computers webmaster (webmaster@atic.ca).
ATIC Computers uses email as an avenue with which to provide customer service and technical support. We may use information that you voluntarily provide us to contact you in an attempt to resolve a prior issue or to proactively notify you of technical issues which may affect you.
ATIC Computers may share some basic information with hardware manufacturers in regards to authorized partner program maintenance or specific promotional programs. If you would prefer to not have your information released to the hardware manufacturers, please email us (sales@atic.ca) in regards to this after making a purchase.
Site Security
ATIC Computers' Web site uses a variety of security measures to prevent the loss, misuse, or alteration of information you send to ATIC Computers.
All user account passwords and sensitive data is stored in an encrypted format, on a secure SQL database.
Presently, our site does not use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), as a result, we do not request any highly secure information to be processed online. All our credit-card processing is handled through Moneris Solutions, one of the largest credit-card/merchant service providers in Canada. When directed to their site, you will be transmitting all data to their site via SSL, a secure encryption system designed for the internet. When you are returned to the ATIC, the SSL session is ended, however no secure informaton is sent back to our website.
Depending on your browser security settings, you may receive a warning upon completion of your transaction, informing you that the website is redirecting you to a non-secure website, and that the information is no longer encrypted. The information being sent over this non-encrypted connection is simply your transaction record number and your aproval code. Your credit-card information is not transmitted back to the ATIC Computers website.
A few notes about Cookies
Like many Web sites, ATIC Computers' site may make use of "cookies". A cookie is a short line of text that is created by a Web site and stored in a file on your computer. Cookies are used to store information about your preferences and activity during and after your visit to a Web site. Cookies are also used widely in electronic commerce programs to keep track of which items a user has selected for purchase. Cookies cannot gather any information from your computer other than that which you provide directly or that which is provided routinely by your browser software.
Note: Most browsers can be set to tell when a cookie is sent - at which time you can refuse to receive it. If you have set your browser to not accept cookies you may not be able to use or take full advantage of the ATIC Computers Web site.
